"We are so proud and happy to recognize the achievements of Dr. Lawrence," said Dr. Dominic Salinas, director of the Department of Education. "She continues to be a guiding influence in our department and lives. As an example of her dedication, Dr. Lawrence was recently here helping a student for over six hours."

Lawrence, who retired in June 2011 after 18 years of service to Centenary, was presented with a certificate praising her for her outstanding contributions to the College and time spent as a dedicated educator.

The UAC meeting brought together members of the Centenary administration and Education Department with area principals, community advocates, and school board representatives. The attendees were encouraged to provide feedback on new and existing educational programs at Centenary. Programs already in effect include the M.A.T. in Music and the Louisiana Escadrille program.

New programs involve the creation of a Student Advisory Committee for students to suggest additions to the M.A.T. program. The Department of Education is also seeking accreditation from the Teacher Accreditation Council (TEAC).

The meeting ended with the special recognition of Dr. Lawrence and her many years of service.
