21st Student Research Forum call for submissions

SHREVEPORT, LA — The 21st annual Centenary Student Research Forum is set for April 19-20, with both oral and poster presentations taking place. All Centenary students are invited to submit research from independent studies, senior seminar, or summer research projects.

"Students stand to benefit greatly from submitting their work to Centenary's Student Research Forum," said Dr. Scott Chirhart, associate professor of Biology and director of the Forum. "The experience alone is worth the effort. The Forum is a unique opportunity for our students to present their research in a professional capacity and gain invaluable feedback from their peers, professors, and community."

Submissions can be made through the Research Forum page, and abstracts should not exceed 200 words. The deadline for submitting abstracts is March 28, 2012.

Judges will review display, content, and oral presentation for students participating in the poster competition. Oral presenters will be judged on presentation, project content, and effectiveness of a question-and-answer session.

Students will be awarded cash prizes for the best presentations in three categories: Natural Science oral presentations, Social Science and Humanities oral presentations, and poster presentations.

A community tradition for over 20 years, the Research Forum is modeled upon long-standing academic traditions of conference-based information sharing and feedback.
