Muses offer study series on Joseph Andrews

SHREVEPORT, LA — The Centenary College Muses will offer a study series on Henry Fielding's Joseph Andrews beginning April 3. Joseph Andrews is one of the very first novels in English and contains a preface on the theory of the comic. The class will feature Dr. Lee Morgan, who taught at Centenary for 44 years before retiring in May 1997.

  • When: Every Tuesday in April (3rd, 10th, 17th, and 24th); 11:00 a.m. or 5:30 p.m.

  • Where: Jackson Hall, Room 304, Centenary College

  • Price: $35

Participants must purchase their own copy of Joseph Andrews and select either the 11:00 a.m. or 5:30 p.m. session. Space is limited to 35 participants per session, so interested booklovers should register early.

Dr. Morgan has co-authored and co-edited several books and publications, including three widely used Oxford University Press and Harper and Row textbooks. His most recent work, Centenary College of Louisiana 1825-2000: The Biography of an American Academy, was published in the fall of 2008.

The fall and spring study series are sponsored by the Centenary Muses. The Muses group is dedicated to funding student-centered campus projects and programs not included in the regular college budget. Members hold the annual Centenary Book Bazaar in the Gold Dome every fall.
