Pavilion and scoreboard enhance intramural experience

SHREVEPORT, LA — The new pavilion and scoreboard along with other improvements to the Jones Rice Field are now complete. The student body and the Student Government Association (SGA) proposed the project as part of Centenary Renewal to enhance the intramural athlete experience.

"The scoreboard and pavilion have really helped to build the involvement and excitement of intramurals for the students," said Justin Cash, manager of wellness marketing and intramural sports. "We can now announce games and play music during time outs."

The new scoreboard offers multi-sport capabilities and helps the intramural staff to better manage the game. The pavilion comes with equipment storage, a water fountain, speakers, lighting, and tables. A backstop fence has also been put in place.

"The new scoreboard and pavilion on Jones Rice Field make intramural sports feel like official games," said senior Jordan Gurren, a Communications/Film major. "The improvements make us proud, and we feel as if we are truly a part of something."

Centenary Renewal was launched in May 2011 to renovate the campus's physical infrastructure. To learn more about completed projects as well as projects slated to begin this summer, visit www.centenary.edu/renewal.
