Lingnan University representatives visit Centenary campus

SHREVEPORT, LA — Two representatives from Lingnan University in Hong Kong visited Centenary's campus on Monday, July 16. Lingnan University is one of Centenary's nine global exchange partners and the only liberal arts institution in Hong Kong. Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs and Registrar Dr. William Lee and Assistant Program Manager for the Office of Mainland and International Programs Angela Ng spoke with Centenary's Office of Global Engagement on new initiatives for the future.

"We are always looking to foster communication and strengthen our existing ties with our global exchange partners," said Christopher Lavan, Director of Global Engagement. "Lingnan University is one of our most valuable partners and provides our only official relationship with an Asian institution."

A few of the innovations under discussion for both institutions were the possibility of creating a new module site for Centenary students that visit Lingnan University and sponsoring a Centenary faculty member as a visiting scholar for a semester in Hong Kong.

The visitors also toured campus and discussed academics, admissions, risk management and safety, and service learning with various Centenary faculty and staff members.

Centenary's relationship with Lingnan University began in 2003. Semester and summer abroad exchange programs were finalized between the two institutions in the 2005-2006 academic year.

The Office of Global Engagement offers Centenary students the opportunity to study abroad through one of nine exchange partnerships around the globe. Students participating in exchange programs are enrolled concurrently at Centenary and at the partner institution abroad.
