Meadows Museum presents gallery talk with Rachul McClintic

SHREVEPORT, LA — The Meadows Museum of Art at Centenary College is hosting a gallery talk on "Double Standard: Photographs" with artist Rachul McClintic Sunday, September 16, 2:00 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. McClintic's photographs reference the sexual double standard placed on women that often hinders sexual as well as other freedoms.

"From my experience and observation many intimate relationships contribute to sexual objectification, fixations, and destructive obsessions," said McClintic. "To assert visual gender commentary, my work utilizes body language, symbolic spaces and autobiographical subject matter."

She is the sole photographer and director of the photographic shoot and often places herself in images as part of the subject matter. McClintic's work continuously debates and visually reverses sexual double standards in a process that McClintic describes as "evolutionary and revealing."

McClintic holds a Master of Fine Arts with a concentration in studio art from Louisiana Tech University. Her photographs and paintings have been printed in publications for the Shaw Center for the Arts in Baton Rouge and in two issues of Art Scene Today. McClintic's work is featured in galleries and museums throughout Louisiana.

The exhibit will run until November 11.
