Dr. Jon Westfall joins Centenary Psychology faculty

SHREVEPORT, LA — Centenary's Psychology Department welcomed visiting professor Dr. Jon Westfall as its newest member, beginning fall 2012. Westfall is offering an introductory course on psychology, learning, and memory this semester.

"My work in life is to bring deeper knowledge and understanding of the world around us to as many people as possible: students in the classroom, colleagues in research, clients I consult with, and people I meet on a daily basis," said Westfall. "The atmosphere of Centenary allows me to do this and more with energetic individuals committed toward a common goal."

Westfall obtained a Ph.D. in experimental psychology with a specialization in cognitive psychology, judgment, and decision making from the University of Toledo, Ohio. Before arriving at Centenary, he was a postdoctoral research scholar and Associate Director for Research & Technology at Columbia Business School's Center for Decision Sciences.

Westfall has recently published in Brain & Cognition and an article on internet data security for researchers is forthcoming in the International Journal of Information Management.

Westfall joins Assistant Professor Amy Hammond and Associate Professor Matthew Weeks in Centenary's Psychology Department. The Department offers a broad range of courses that encourages students to critically analyze why individuals think, act, and feel in the ways they do.
