"We are delighted to partner with Centenary College in presenting this scholarship for the third consecutive year," said Joubert. "The education that you (students) receive at Centenary is valuable, and to have Centenary here in the Ark-La-Tex is beneficial to everyone."

Student recipients for the 2012-13 year include Austin Butler, Jay Frazier, Ashley Giffen, Victoria Chaviz, and Barry Acosta.

"I extend appreciation for this scholarship on behalf of the College," said Scott Rawles, Vice President for Advancement. "An investment in our students is an investment in the future of this community."

Students selected for the scholarship demonstrate academic promise, personal character, financial need, and community involvement. The scholarships alleviate a portion of the financial obligations faced by the recipients.

The Chesapeake Energy Scholarship at Centenary College was established in summer 2009 and has been awarded to multiple students each semester since 2010. The scholarship is available to sophomores or juniors with a minimum 2.75 gpa.

Chesapeake contributes scholarship dollars in each of its operating areas to help fund higher education tuition for nearly 400 students and to provide education opportunities in communities in which it operates.
