CLC to honor Mack McCarter with Christian Leadership Award

SHREVEPORT, LA — Community Renewal founder Mack McCarter will receive the Christian Leadership Award at the 7th Annual CLC Fundraising Dinner March 20. Awarded annually, the Christian Leadership Award is given to an outstanding person who demonstrates strong Christian leadership within his or her community. The event is open to the public.

"This year's recipient of the Christian Leadership Award, Mack McCarter, stands tall alongside former recipients," said Maegan Daigle, Assistant Director of Christian Leadership at Centenary, "His work in the local, national, and international community has changed lives of countless families and has demonstrated the power of Christian leadership."

A Shreveport native, McCarter earned a Bachelor of Arts in Religion from Texas Christian University and a Master of Divinity from Brite Divinity School. After serving as a pastor for 18 years, he returned to Shreveport and created Community Renewal International in 1994.

Community Renewal International has garnered both national and international recognition for its work connecting caring partners to build a world where every child feels safe and loved. Prestigious institutions such as the White House, the Manhattan Institute, and Harvard University have recognized Community Renewal throughout its 19 years of existence.

McCarter's long list of honors and accomplishments include winning the Optimist Club's Mr. Shreveport Award for contributions to the Shreveport community, the National Association of Social Worker's Louisiana Public Citizen of the Year Award for the Shreveport region, and the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana's Angel Award for helping Louisiana children.
