Rotary Suites will feature full apartment-style living fall 2013

SHREVEPORT, LA — Rotary Suites will receive an overhaul this coming summer converting the dorm to full apartment-style living. Work in Rotary will begin May 15 and is scheduled for completion for the fall semester. The renovations are part of the Centenary Renewal project, a $5 million reinvestment in the College's campus undertaken in conjunction with a $500,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Justice.

"Centenary provides an active, living-learning environment," said Montgomery Mewers, Director of Residence Life. "This reinvestment into our campus infrastructure has led our students to have even more welcoming spaces to live, lead, and learn."

Many of the improvements will focus on the kitchens in the 21 resident suites. Full-size refrigerators, stoves, mini-dishwashers, new sinks with granite counter tops, space for trash and recycling containers, and new cabinets will be installed to create a fully functional kitchen. New paint and laminate flooring will also be added throughout the kitchen and living areas.

"Our efforts over the past few years have focused heavily on enhancing the Centenary experience for our students," said Chris Sampite, Director of Facilities. "Apartment-style housing at Rotary Suites with a shared living area and kitchen provides our students apartments comparable to those found throughout the Shreveport-Bossier area."

Rotary holds about 70 residents and is reserved for upper division students. The suites feature two bedrooms with a shared living area. Rotary's apartment-style housing provides more privacy and living space for its residents.

Centenary Renewal was launched in May 2011 to renovate the campus's physical infrastructure while improving the energy efficiency and sustainability features of campus life.

Prior to the fall 2012 semester, Cline Hall received a number of renovations including bathroom upgrades, painting, and new energy controls. To learn more about completed projects as well as those in the planning stages, visit the Centenary Renewal page.
