"Horace has given so much both to Centenary and the students he taught," said Dr. Gale Odom, Dean of the School of Music. "His fantastic performing skills inspire us all, and his knowledge of music literature enriches the education of his students. He has a terrible tendency to steal the scene when he is on stage. I hope to hear him sing some of my favorite scene-stealing songs at the musicale on April 27. His talent and sense of humor will be sorely missed!"

Coming to Centenary in 1984 from Chickasha, Oklahoma, English has taught voice, language diction, and opera workshop. Former students include professional actor Rob Luke '94, Centenary Choir Director David Hobson '98, composers James Eakin '00 and Taylor Davis '04, church musicians Sterling Allen '05 and Stacy Hood '95, college professor and professional singer Timothy Jones '88, opera singer Vincent Turregano '10, and stage singer and vocal coach Missy Wise '09.

Centenary alumni and former students are invited to send greetings to Dr. English through the Hurley School of Music Facebook page or by emailing him directly at email.
