Centenary alumna earns economic developer certification

SHREVEPORT, LA — Centenary Alumni Association President Angie White '93 is now a Certified Economic Developer. Having just finished the four-year certification process, White joins a network of just over 1,200 economic professionals with this prestigious title awarded by the International Economic Development Council.

"This long journey toward certification initially began years ago while a student at Centenary," said White. "My undergraduate experience inspired me to reach the highest heights of my chosen field, which in my case requires certification as an Economic Developer."

White graduated with a BA in political science at Centenary before earning both an MBA and MA in international affairs from the George Washington University.

As the Vice President of Workforce Marketing for the North Louisiana Economic Partnership, White created and continues to lead the North Louisiana Employment Opportunities Network program, which assists businesses in identifying and recruiting qualified employees whose skills will benefit the North Louisiana area.

"This new certification will strengthen my ability to help the North Louisiana region grow economically," said White.

Candidates seeking to become a Certified Economic Developer must have had four years of full-time paid economic development experience, have completed six International Economic Development Council courses, and have successfully passed a rigorous certification examination.
