First Position follows two characters that run into each other after six years of silence and decide whether to rekindle their college romance. A lover of romance novels, Wicker came to her story naturally. "I started getting my own ideas in my head for a book," said Wicker. "One day, I just started writing them down, and before long, I'd written thousands of words. I kept going. Some of the issues in the book are deeply personal, so the writing process was cathartic in a sense."

Wicker used the pen name, "Prescott Lane," upon releasing the book. "As a first-time author, I was initially reluctant to put my name on it," said Wicker. "Looking back, I wish I had just used my own name." But from her current 4.2 out of five rating on Amazon.com, "Lane" has already been a hit with readers.

Another book is already in the works for Wicker. "This one is set in New Orleans. I have ideas for several other books. It's sometimes hard to find time to write in between all of my kids' activities, but I just write when I can."

During her time at Centenary, Wicker studied sociology and later went on to receiver her MSW at Tulane University. Now a resident of New Orleans with her husband and two children, Wicker previously worked with developmentally delayed and disabled children.

First Position is available online at Amazon.
