"I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to serve Centenary as Chaplain," said Robideaux. "Although it is a privilege to work with religious life leaders and colleagues who care for the spiritual and leadership development of our campus, it is the students who are our true leaders. I look forward to continuing to support and encourage them on their journeys."

She joined Centenary's staff as Director of the Christian Leadership Center in 2008, and transitioned into the post of Director of Professional Discernment as of July 2011. In her current role, Robideaux coaches students in the exploration of their values and passions as they develop an understanding of profession as meaningful life work in the world.

With the addition of the "chaplain" title, Robideaux will offer religious services, support, and guidance to the campus community.

"Valerie has developed a close relationship with our students that will certainly aid in her new role," said Mark Miller, Dean of Students. "We know that she, serving as Chaplain, will provide students with a nurturing and understanding environment where they can explore their beliefs while being challenged to live according to their values and work for the betterment of others."

An ordained deacon, Robideaux serves the Louisiana Conference of the United Methodist Church. She received her Master of Divinity in Religious Education from Candler School of Theology at Emory University in 2008. Robideaux served at Northside United Methodist Church in Atlanta, Ga., as a Women's Discipleship Associate from 2005-2008 and later the interim Director.

She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Religious Studies with an emphasis in Christian education as well as her Church Careers Institute endorsement (now CLC) from Centenary College in 2003.

She is married to Pastor Joseph Robideaux at Lifewater Church. They have two daughters, Aubrey and Judah.
