SHREVEPORT, LA — The 27th annual Centenary Book Bazaar will be held Friday, September 6, from 4:00-9:00 p.m., and Saturday, September 7, 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. in the Gold Dome. The Book Bazaar is organized and sponsored by the Muses, a philanthropic group dedicated to funding projects and programs for Centenary students.

"During the two-day Book Bazaar, the Gold Dome becomes the largest bookseller in the state of Louisiana," said David Williams, Associate Manager of Advancement Services and liaison to the Muses. "The ladies of the Muses are what make this event so successful because of their year round hard work and dedication. They volunteer their time and energy so that all of the money raised goes directly to fund projects benefiting Centenary students, faculty, and staff."

According to the Muses, this year's Book Bazaar will be one of the largest with more than 80,000 items available for purchase. The Bazaar boasts over 50 categories of paperback books, hardback books, DVDs, VHS, CDs, cassette tapes, and puzzles.

This year's special collection area will display over 1,000 vintage children's books. Most items are priced from 25¢ to $5.00, with higher-priced rare items reserved for bid auction. Items up for bid include a 1943 edition of The Lady in the Lake and a signed copy of Gun Engraving Review by late Shreveport native Ed Prudhomme.

As in previous years, a section will be devoted entirely to books found on local middle and high school readings lists. Students will find almost all required titles ranging in price from 25¢ to $1.25.

Last year, the Centenary Muses awarded over $80,000 of Book Bazaar proceeds to fund projects such as scholarships, renovations and remodeling, travel expenses, sports equipment, flat-screen televisions and furniture. Overall, the bazaar has raised more than $1 million dollars to aid the college.

Patrons should bring bags or boxes to carry out their books. Carryout assistance is available. Cash or check is accepted. On Saturday, all items become half-priced after 1:00 p.m.
