Each year, the College's cabinet chooses a faculty or staff member who possesses the same qualities that Dean Womack displayed in bringing the campus community closer together. Whittington was chosen based on her commitment to serve the Centenary family and her tireless work behind the scenes to support the mission of the college.

"I felt undeserving but was very honored to receive the award," said Whittington who received a standing ovation from her peers upon accepting the award. "I was amazed by that gesture. Just flattered that my coworkers would do that for me."

The award struck a personal chord with Whittington as she worked with David Womack on a daily basis.

"He was fabulous and I miss him dearly," said Whittington. "He had such an infectious personality and had such a positive attitude about life...he just wanted to make things great for the kids."

Whittington has been on staff as the Executive Assistant to the President since 2001. As a student, Whittington studied Business and was an active member of ROTC.
