Professor Emeritus honored at East Texas Pipe Organ Festival
SHREVEPORT, LA — Centenary Professor Emeritus William Teague will be honored with special concerts, presentations, and exhibits at Brown Memorial Chapel and St. Mark's Cathedral on Tuesday, November 12. The daylong celebration will pay tribute to his distinguished career as an educator, church musician, and concert organist.

Teague was professor of organ and church music at Centenary for over 40 years, and was organist-choirmaster at St. Mark's Cathedral for 38 years. He received an honorary Doctorate of Fine Arts from Centenary in 2011.

What: Duet organ recital honoring the life and career of William Teague by Ken Cowan and Bradley Welch.

When: 10:00 a.m.
What: Lecture by Dr. Charles Callahan entitled "Alexander McCurdy: A Life of Teaching," chronicling the life of William Teague's organ professor.
Where: Centenary's Brown Memorial Chapel
When: 2:00 p.m.
What: Organ/percussion recital by Teague's former student and Centenary alumnus, Bruce Power '83 and Teague's son and Centenary percussion professor, Chandler Teague. Musical repertoire will be drawn from concerts the Teagues performed together in the 1970s and 1980s.

What: Organ Recital by Tom Trenney Honoring the Life and Career of William Teague.

In conjunction with Teague's tribute is the third annual East Texas Pipe Organ Festival, a four-day festival featuring five Aeolian-Skinner pipe organs designed and tonally finished by Roy Perry. Participants from around the nation will visit the organs at regional churches and enjoy several recitals.
