Meadows Museum under new leadership

SHREVEPORT, LA — Dr. Lisa Nicoletti and Professor Bruce Allen '75 were recently appointed as interim co-directors of Centenary's nationally accredited Meadows Museum of Art. Nicoletti will serve as the Head of Collections and Research while Allen will serve as the Head of Logistics & Exhibition Design.

"Dr. Nicoletti and Professor Allen bring both experience and fresh ideas that will be advantageous to the future of the Meadows Museum," said Dr. Edward Ragan, Director of Educational Outreach. "Under their leadership, we have a rare opportunity to reconceptualize the museum's potential and better engage our students, faculty, and community members across the region with our events and exhibitions."

Nicoletti has been teaching at Centenary since 1999 and is currently Professor of Art History and Visual Studies. She received her BA from Augsburg College, an MA in English from the University of Minnesota-Duluth, and an MA and PhD in Art History from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She actively publishes on museum exhibitions and art and manages Centenary's Museum Management Program.

Allen began his work with the Museum in 1976 as an undergraduate student intern. After receiving his BA and BS from Centenary and an MFA from the University of Wyoming, he returned to join Centenary's faculty, where he currently leads the Department of Art and Visual Culture as Chair. Allen has also served as the first Curator of the Meadows under Director Willard Cooper, the Director of the Magale Library Gallery in 1983, and Coordinator of the Turner Art Gallery in 1987.

Nicoletti and Allen join Office Manager and Internal Accountant Neeta Kaji, who has overseen accounts as well as general office operations since 2001. Kaji is a 1979 graduate of the University of Bombay.

The team looks forward to expanding student contact with the Museum and its substantial collection to give students More in Four. Students will be working with visiting artists and guest curators in their classes and receiving valuable career experience in exhibition design, planning, and installation.

The Meadows Museum of Art is located on the campus of Centenary College at 2911 Centenary Boulevard and is free and open to the public. The Museum was established on the College's 150th anniversary in 1975, and was made possible through a gift from alumnus Algur H. Meadows.
