The Shreveport Pastel Society formed after a workshop with nationally recognized artist Alan Flattman of New Orleans in 2005. The Society has 16 active members who exhibit their work in three to four shows per year. Members have studied in workshops with pastelists Bob Rohm, Kitty Wallis, Maggie Price, Elaine Leedy, and Susan Ogilvite.

According to their artist statement, the Society does not have competitions nor do they set limitations on the artists as to size and subject matter. Instead, they paint as individual artists and show their work for sale.

The Shreveport Pastel Society's exhibit will be available for viewing through February in the lobby of Magale Library during regularly scheduled library hours.

Those who are interested in joining the Shreveport Pastel Society must submit an application and three digital photos of their work to email.
