Centenary invites community to view original research

SHREVEPORT, LA — Students have submitted a total of 30 presentations of original research and scholarship for the 23rd annual Centenary Student Research Forum, funded by the Douglas A. and Marion S. Attaway Foundation. The Centenary and Shreveport-Bossier community is invited to attend and explore the students' project April 4 and 11.

"This is an excellent opportunity for student-researchers to share their work with the rest of the community," said Dr. Scott Chirhart, Associate Professor of Biology and Director of the Forum.

What: 23rd Annual Centenary Student Research Forum
When: April 4, 2:00-6:00 p.m.; April 11, 2:00-6:00 p.m.
Where: April 4, Second floor of Mickle Hall; April 11, Mickle 114

Poster-based presentations will take place April 4. Visitors will be able to read each poster at their own discretion and ask the presenting students questions. Oral presentations will take place April 11 and students will each have 10 minutes to present their research and answer audience questions. These presentations will be divided into three categories: Natural Science, Social Science, and Humanities.

The poster competition will be judged based on display, content, and oral presentation while the oral competition will be judged based on presentation, project content, and effectiveness of the question- and-answer session. Cash prizes will be awarded for the three different categories of the poster presentations and oral presentation as a whole.

A community tradition for over 20 years, the Research Forum is modeled upon long-standing academic traditions of conference-based information sharing and feedback.
