SHREVEPORT, LA — Works of Centenary staff members will be on display at the Magale Library through the summer, May 1 to August 31. The opening reception for the exhibit featuring photography, paintings, and drawings will take place Friday, May 16, at 2 p.m., in the Magale lobby.

Staff members participating in the exhibit include Christy Wrenn, Magale Library Director; Kathe Newsome, IT Database Administrator; and Terri Ford, Facilities Work Control Coordinator.

Despite a prolific year of painting, Newsome submitted to the exhibit the only painting that survived the years.

According to Wrenn's artist statement, drawing is a hobby that just recently developed after feeling the desire to try something new in addition to her photography interest.

"My artwork comes in different forms: photographs, sketches, watercolors, and colored pencil or copic pen colorings," said Wrenn. "My theme is LIFE and the enjoyment of it. I consistently am improving, drawing daily to see if I can reproduce what I photograph, just like the photograph. I'm always looking for the perfect shot in time."

Wrenn has spent the last three years teaching herself to draw, which inspired her to write and illustrate a children's book Rylan and Burt. The story is inspired by her grandson and will be published in 2014.

Centenary and Magale Library are proud to showcase the works of diversely skilled and talented staff who are sharing their creativity with Centenary and the surrounding community.
