Students immerse themselves in culture, community for May Module

SHREVEPORT, LA — Lazy summer days may be around the corner, but nearly 175 Centenary students are gearing up for exciting courses for the upcoming May Module.

"May Modules are an excellent opportunity for students to explore a topic not usually offered during the school year, which typically includes immersing in another culture," said Nicole Rapagnani, Assistant Director for Intercultural Engagement. "These courses truly enrich the experience of our students. We are excited to have 11 modules offered this May — eight international and three domestic."

May Module is a month-long set of immersive courses available in a variety of academic areas. By participating in a May Module, Centenary students fulfill their requirements for Trek, an innovative program through which all Centenary students participate in experiential learning by exploring opportunities in the areas of career, culture, and community.

One hundred and eleven students will travel to Australia, Denmark, France, Greece, Haiti, India, Nicaragua, or South Africa while more than 55 students will spend their time in the Mississippi Delta, study Latino culture in Ark-La-Tex, or learn about music and war on campus in Shreveport.

Of the 111 students participating in an international May Module, 106 are utilizing Passport Points to supplement their travel costs. With Passport Points, students can earn rewards simply by attending campus and cultural enrichment events. Through the program, the College serves as a financial partner to students, enabling them to bring their passion and commitment to communities across the globe.
