Centenary student lands internship with Lamar Advertising

SHREVEPORT, LA —Emma Viskozki, a senior communication major from Shreveport, has been accepted as an art intern at Lamar Outdoor Advertising this summer. Emma's work in a Centenary design course helped lead her to the opportunity.

"Our design class did a project that partnered with the general manager of the Shreveport Lamar branch," said Viskozki. "After this project, Professor Jessica Hawkins notified me that an internship position was available if I was interested. I talked to the general manager and he confirmed that there was a spot open and encouraged me to apply."

Following an extensive interview process, Emma received the good news that she had been selected for the internship and was able to dive directly into billboard art design. In just a few short weeks, she has revised several existing ads and has also designed several original billboards that can be seen around the Shreveport area.

Emma's work toward a degree in communication with a focus on new media has prepared her well for her internship at Lamar, and her colleagues there have been very encouraging. She plans to pursue a career in advertising, following in the footsteps of her father.

Emma is already an accomplished designer who took home two silver ADDY awards in the student division at the February 2014 ADDY Awards Gala sponsored by the American Advertising Federation of Shreveport-Bossier.
