"I'm most looking forward to meeting the first-year and second-year students and learning about their goals and passions," said Smith. "I'm excited about getting to know them and being another person in the Centenary family who is in their corner and cheering them on."

As Re-Enrollment Counselor, Smith will regularly meet with students and act as a support system for their first few years as undergraduates. Her goal is to encourage retention and connect students with on-campus resources.

"Melisa is an impressive addition to our team," said Julie Taufa'asau, Director of Re-Enrollment. "She is already connecting with current students, staff, and faculty in order to discover how to best support students in their transition into Centenary. Her professional experience has prepared her for this, but her warm and engaging personality is an even bigger asset."

Smith spent the last 14 years in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, where she was a marketer for the YMCA before joining Education Management Corporation where she focused her work on community outreach. She received a BA in journalism and public relations from the University of North Texas and is currently pursuing her master's in organizational leadership.
