Where: Centenary Caf Deck
When: 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.
"Our goals for this event are simple—we are promoting civic involvement," said Erick Norem, Grande Scribe for the chapter. "As Kappa Sigmas, we are encouraged to serve A Greater Cause and we saw voter registration as a great opportunity to do just that."
In 2001, the Kappa Sigma Fraternity launched a national initiative, A Greater Cause, promote volunteerism, citizenship, and community service among its members. Undergraduate members of the organization are asked to donate a minimum of 35 hours per year to community service, and to raise at least $35 for charitable causes. In addition, each chapter is asked to have all of its eligible members register to vote.
The Geaux Vote event is free and open to the public. Participants should bring identification to prove U.S. citizenship such as a driver's license or passport. If a picture ID is unavailable, a utility bill, payroll check, or government document that includes name and address are also acceptable.
