With The Beatles: Illustrations by Enoch Doyle Jeter Opens September 13 at the Meadows; Stinson to perform

SHREVEPORT, LA — Centenary's Meadows Museum of Art will host With The Beatles, a series of illustrations by Enoch Doyle Jeter, from Saturday, September 13 through Saturday, October 25. The Friends of the Algur H. Meadows Museum will host an opening reception on Saturday, September 13 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Jeter will give a gallery talk at 6 p.m., and musician Kenny Bill Stinson will perform. In 2007, Stinson performed on the same piano used by John Lennon to compose the song "Imagine."

The exhibition, based on The Beatles' second album by the same name, features 14 prints that visually interpret every song on the album, as well as several of Jeter's original drawings on their lithographic stones. The exhibit marks the 50th anniversary of The Beatles' arrival in the USA.

"I hope my work captures a tiny bit of the wonder four lads from Liverpool gave to us all," said Jeter.

Jeter is currently an Artist-in-Residence at the School of Visual and Performing Arts at the University of Louisiana at Monroe, his alma mater. He also hosts the longest-running John Lennon birthday celebration in America each October 9 at Enoch's Irish Pub & Cafe in Monroe.

Jeter's prints are featured illustrations in She Loves You (2013), Jude Southerland Kessler's third biography on John Lennon. On Friday, October 3, at 7 p.m., Kessler will give a free performance entitled Lennon's Liverpool at the Meadows. She invites her audience to journey to 1950's Liverpool to trace the birth of The Beatles through rare photos and music.
