Centenary readies for 2014 Homecoming and Parents & Family Weekend

SHREVEPORT, LA — Centenary College's 2014 Homecoming and Parents & Family Weekend is just around the corner, with events running Friday, October 24 through Sunday, October 26. The weekend promises special gatherings, reunions, sporting events, and a tailgate unified under the theme Centenary Pride Worldwide.

Traditional Homecoming activities will complement Parents and Family Weekend events and the annual choir program, Rhapsody in View.

"We are expecting an impressive alumni crowd from around the country," said Stewardship Officer Meredith Sowers. "From a gumbo and dessert cook-off to sporting events and reunions, participants can expect a fun-filled weekend with activities for every member of the family."

Alumni from graduating classes of 1964, 1968-70, 1974, 1994, and 2004 have planned a number of exciting events to celebrate significant reunions. On Friday, parties scheduled include a 50th reunion dinner at the Petroleum Club and 20th and 10th reunion gatherings at Ristorante Giuseppe. Events on Saturday include a catch-up at Strawn's for the 50th reunion, a 40th gathering at Bistro Byronz, and a 45th cluster reunion at Country Tavern.

The Christian Leadership Center (CLC) has planned events to celebrate its 40th anniversary, including a reunion mixer on Friday and brunch Saturday, both in Kilpatrick Auditorium. Members of the CLC/CSCC Reunion group invite other alumni to join them for the Great Pumpkin Run for Research hosted by LSU Health Shreveport and the Feist-Weiller Cancer Center. The 5K will begin Saturday, October 25, at 8 a.m. at the Gold Dome.

Homecoming Week kicks off for students with a window-painting contest in the cafeteria on Wednesday, October 22, at 8 p.m. Other Homecoming events include the Alumni Awards Luncheon, un-parade, flag football games, tailgate, and memorial service at Brown Chapel.
