Magale Library hosts book signing, reading of Stuti's story

SHREVEPORT, LA — Centenary's Magale Library will host a book discussion and signing by Dr. Ajay Jawahar and Centenary sophomore Stuti Jawahar '17 for their recently released Thumbs Up: God's Love Endures Forever on Friday, April 10, at 3 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

Stuti
Stuti '17 is a sophomore psychology major

The emotional book chronicles the miraculous story of Stuti's recovery following a devastating automobile accident that left her clinging to life on January 15, 2013. Ajay, the primary author and Stuti's father, shares how he, his family, and their community of friends and supporters experienced the power of God's mercy during the trials they experienced as Stuti fought for her life.

"Every page of this book demonstrates that no science or knowledge known to man has the power to destroy the hope or faith in God," said Ajay. "Faith can and will—as this story shows—take medicine and technology by the hand and lead it successfully to recall a person to life."

Ajay completed his basic and advanced medical training in neurosurgery in India. He completed his Post Doctoral Fellowship in Image Guided Brain Surgery from the University of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Jawahar is a celebrated neuroscience researcher with several peer-reviewed publications and awards in the field of brain and spine research. He is a research consultant at the Headache and Neurology Center in Shreveport and President of Jawahar Consulting.

Ninteen-year-old Stuti was involved in the devastating car accident that left her with a severe traumatic brain injury during her senior year at CE Byrd High School in Shreveport. Doctors believed that, if she managed to survive, she probably would be in a vegetative state for the rest of her life. Stuti is currently studying psychology at Centenary College and is an active member of Chi Omega fraternity.
