Director of Library Services celebrates published children's book with reading

SHREVEPORT, LA — Centenary's Magale Library will host a book reading and signing by Director of Library Services Christy Jordan Wrenn for her first children's book Rylan and Burt on Friday, April 17, from 3 to 4 p.m. in Magale's reading area.

"About three years ago, I decided that my right brain needed some creative stimulation," said Wrenn. "I read Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain and Drawing for Dummies cover to cover. Soon I began to draw things that were going on with my three grandchildren in Anchorage, Alaska. I combined lots of photos, situations around their house and neighborhood, and my first book, Rylan and Burt was born. It's written and illustrated from 3-year-old Rylan's perspective."

Published by New York City-based Page Publishing, Wrenn's poignant tale illustrated in crayon is a classic childhood escapade filled with lovable characters and a heartwarming message.

Rylan and Burt is available at bookstores everywhere, or online at the Apple iTunes store, Amazon, Google Play, or Barnes and Noble.

Wrenn has been a professional librarian for almost 40 years working with Louisiana Interlibrary Loan Systems and The Shreveport Times Library, creating area church libraries, and currently serving as Centenary's Director of Library Services.
