"It is an honor for me to take on the role of the Re-Enrollment Counselor," said Newson. "I am eager to meet the incoming first-year students and continue to build a strong relationship with the rising sophomores. My aim is to support Centenary students as they navigate through their academic and social journey."

As Re-Enrollment Counselor, Newson will regularly meet with students and act as a support system for their first years as undergraduates. He will promote student retention by encouraging students to connect with on-campus resources and to ensure first-year students are being supported as they transition socially and academically into college and into the Centenary community.

"The pool of candidates from which Cordara was chosen was very strong, and the group of staff members that interviewed him unanimously decided he is the best person to step in to the Re-Enrollment Counselor position," said Julie Taufa'asau, Director of Re-Enrollment. "Cordara is currently working on his master of education in student affairs and college counseling from Southern Arkansas University so he comes to us with a great deal of theoretical experience and, now, practical experience supporting students academically and socially."

Before joining the Re-Enrollment team, Cordara served as a supervisor and office administrator at A Good Home Care Services, a home health provider company. He received his BA in mass communication with an emphasis in print journalism from Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia, Arkansas. While there, he was an active participant in clubs and organizations including Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., Alpha Psi Omega, Student Government Association, Student Activities Board, and Genesis Ministry Gospel Choir.
