Centenary's new student SOAR program takes flight

SHREVEPORT, LA — The first of three on-campus Summer Orientation and Registration (SOAR) sessions begins Wednesday, June 17, and ends Thursday, June 18. During the two-day sessions, incoming students have the opportunity to learn more about Centenary in Paris, register for classes, mingle with new classmates, receive email addresses and student ID cards, discover opportunities to get involved in campus activities, finalize financial arrangements, and prepare to begin life as Centenary students in the fall.

"We are looking forward to welcoming our new Ladies and Gents and their families onto campus," said Ashlie Daigle, Director of Student Involvement. "Our team members will show the new students what the Centenary Experience is all about. Attendees will not only meet current students and their future peers but also leave with their student ID and a class schedule. By the end of their stay, college will have become a reality."

Parents will learn important information about financial aid and other resources for them and their student and hear from current students about their time at Centenary.

"This year I am fortunate to have a spirited group of SOAR leaders who have put in hours of time to make sure each new member of the Centenary family will feel embraced in his or her new home," said Daigle. "These student leaders are sure to bring great energy to the program which will translate into a very positive first-experience for the Class of 2019 and our transfer students."

Returning student leaders will help facilitate check-in, small group discussions, and activities throughout the program.

The remaining sessions will take place June 21-22 and June 25-26. For more information, visit the webpage here.

Centenary in Paris takes place during the college's August immersive segment of the fall semester. The intensive learning experience will allow first-year students to create strong bonds with classmates and the college. For more information, visit www.centenary.edu/paris.
