Centenary named a "Best College" by Princeton Review

SHREVEPORT, LA — Centenary College is one of the nation's "Best 380 Colleges," according to The Princeton Review's annual ranking publication geared toward helping college applicants find the best fit. Centenary was also named a "Best Southeastern" college in the "2016 Best College: Region by Region" website feature which profiles a total of 648 schools across four regions.

"It is an honor to be selected as part of such a prestigious group of colleges," said Calhoun Allen, Vice President for Enrollment at Centenary. "It is even more gratifying to know that our recognition is greatly due to our students' appreciation of the commitment by faculty and staff to create a personalized education experience."

Only about 15% of America's 2,500 four-year colleges and only four colleges outside the U.S. are profiled in the book, which is one of The Princeton Review's most popular guides. The schools in the "Best 380 Colleges" have rating scores in eight categories that The Princeton Review tallies based on institutional data and student surveys it collected and analyzed during the 2014-2015 academic year. Rating categories include academics, admissions selectivity, and financial aid. The Princeton Review explains the basis for each rating score in the book and at princetonreview.com.

"Centenary College of Louisiana's outstanding academics are the chief reason we chose it for this book and we strongly recommend it to applicants," said Robert Franek, Princeton Review's Senior VP-Publisher and author of "The Best 380 Colleges."

Centenary's profile in "The Best 380 Colleges" emphasizes the personalized education, positive community atmosphere, and highly involved campus life that distinguishes the College, according to current students. One respondent noted that Centenary's greatest strength is its "commitment to its students," while another praised the "small classes and passionate professors."

Centenary was recently named in Forbes Magazine's list of "Best Private Colleges" and "Best Colleges in the South," and also received an "A" for financial health from the publication.

The Princeton Review is a leading tutoring, test prep, and college admission services company, and has published its "Best Colleges" book since 1992.

Measurable outcomes such as Centenary's 90% medical school and 79% law school acceptance rates have played a role in the College's consistent presence among Forbes' "Top Colleges." Read more about this and other national recognition at centenary.edu/accolades.
