Centenary Fitness Center promotes Wellness Week

Wellness Week

SHREVEPORT, LA — The Centenary Fitness Center is hosting Wellness Week during the first week of the fall term to increase awareness of its facilities and programming that promotes health and wellness. Between September 1 — 4, faculty, staff, and students will be able to participate in new, fun, and engaging exercise classes.

"Wellness Week is an exciting new program the Fitness Center started to introduce our facility offerings to the Centenary campus," said Taylor Williams, Centenary Fitness Center's Membership Coordinator. "The Week will provide fun activities for the campus community to begin getting fit for the whole year. We are excited to make this program a fall semester staple!"

During Wellness Week, the Fitness Center will be introducing the Inches Challenge — a challenge aimed at helping participants lose unwanted inches from their waist healthily through nutrition and fitness. As an added bonus for the Inches Challenge, the Fitness Center is introducing a new class called Body Shaping that will provide nutritional eating assistance for individuals. The class will meet on Fridays from 8 — 9 a.m.

"Over the course of the week we will have numerous programs available for all students, faculty, and staff, highlighted by events such as outdoor yoga, a zumba dance off, and glow in the dark rock climbing," said James Dicken, Associate Director of Wellness. "We will be giving away t-shirts and offering prizes for select events. It should be a great week of fun and fitness, and we encourage everyone to come by and see what services we have to offer."
