Centenary students celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with community event

Hispanic Heritage Month

SHREVEPORT, LA — Centenary's Multicultural Student Association (MSA) will host a Festival of Lights to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month on Friday, October 2, 2015 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. The event will be held in the Quad area behind the College's Magale Library, and is free and open to the public.

"The Festival of Lights is just the beginning of a long list of culturally-enriching events that the Multicultural Student Association will be providing for the Centenary campus as well as the entire Highland area," said Leslie Worm-Brisco, Centenary senior and head of public relations for the MSA. "This is just the tip of the iceberg!"

Multicultural Student Association members plan the Festival of Lights as a celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month in October as well as a way to bring greater awareness to the Hispanic community residing in the Highland area.

Guests will be able to enjoy traditional Hispanic food and music, take a salsa dancing lesson, or play games like "musical sombreros" — a variation on musical chairs.

Members of the Shreveport-Bossier community are encouraged to attend the Festival of Lights and celebrate Hispanic heritage at Centenary. Rain location for the event is Kilpatrick Auditorium.
